Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 July 2026
This policy explains what information the SwiftSearch app (“the App”, “we”, “us”) collects when a merchant installs it on their Shopify store, how that information is used, and the choices available to merchants and their customers. SwiftSearch adds search and product-discovery features to a merchant’s online store.
Information we collect
- Store details: the store’s
myshopify.comdomain and Shopify-issued identifiers, used to keep each store’s data separate and to authenticate requests. - Product catalog: product and collection data (titles, handles, descriptions, prices, images, variants, tags, availability), synced from the store so it can be searched. This is used to build the search index only.
- Search activity: the search terms shoppers type and the number of results returned, used to power search suggestions and the merchant’s search analytics.
- Engagement events: when a shopper clicks a search result or adds a product to cart from search, we record the product identifier, the surface it happened on, and the related search term. Used to rank results and produce analytics.
- Recently viewed products are stored only in the shopper’s own browser (product identifiers, in local storage) and are sent to us transiently only to look up current product details for display.
Information we do not collect
The App requests only the permissions it needs to read products and operate
its storefront features (read_products, write_app_proxy).
We do not collect customer names, email addresses, shipping addresses, or
payment information, and we do not build profiles of individual shoppers.
Search and engagement data is not linked to a customer’s identity.
How we use information
- To provide instant search, filtering, suggestions, and product discovery.
- To rank and improve search results for the store.
- To show the merchant analytics about searches on their store.
- To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the App.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use store data to advertise.
Storage, processing, and retention
Data is stored on servers we operate and is processed to run the search service. Search-activity and engagement records are automatically deleted after 90 days. Product catalog data is kept while the App is installed and refreshed as the store changes.
Service providers
The App runs on infrastructure we control, including a search engine (Typesense) hosted on our own servers, and integrates with Shopify to sync catalog data and authenticate. We do not share store or search data with third parties for their own purposes.
Data deletion and your rights
- On uninstall, the store’s search index is removed immediately.
- We honor Shopify’s mandatory data-protection requests. When Shopify
sends a
customers/redact,customers/data_request, orshop/redactrequest, we act on it — a shop-redact request results in deletion of that store’s data held by the App. - Merchants may request access to or deletion of their store’s data at any time by contacting us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App changes. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
